Affordable Royalty Free Photos & Videos
There are times when we have no choice but to purchase royalty free photos. Sometimes we cannot find the photo or image we need with free or creative commons resources. There are a lot of Royalty Free Photo providers but their price varies in range. Some providers are very expensive and others are reasonably priced. The purpose of this post is to consolidate my recommendations of Royalty Free Photo Provides that are affordable. I will also provide you with my personal guidelines on how to select the right one without over spending.
What is Royalty Free License?
First, let’s cover what Royalty Free License (RF) refers to and what it entails. A royalty free license provides the right to use copyrighted material or intellectual property without the need to pay royalties or license fees for each use or per volume sold. The photos or videos with this type of license have a one-time cost associated to it and it allows the purchaser to use the photo or video as many times as they want. Typically, Royalty Free License allows you to use the copyright material for commercial use as well.
How to Purchase Royalty Free Photos or Videos
Many of these Royalty Free Providers have membership fee, but there is also a credit payment option. It allows you to purchase Royalty Free Photos based on credits you’ve purchased. You basically buy credits for example $35 for 25 credits. Each Royalty Free Provider has their own pricing, so make sure you check. After you purchase the credits, the credits are added to your account. Every time you want to purchase a stock photo or video from their library, they deduct the credit against your credit balance immediately.
Royalty Free Photo Pricing and Guidelines
The affordable Royalty Free Providers listed below charges 1 or 2 credits for a photo dimension size ranging between 300px width to 500px width, which translate to about $1.25 – $3.00 US dollars. Keep in mind the larger the photo dimensions are the more it cost. For a blog post, you do not need expensive large size photos. A 300 pixel width photo is an acceptable size for a blog post’s featured image. Video has a different pricing, and cost more than photos.
